Interested in running an 8-K race?
Whether you are a novice or an experienced runner, come join TCSC staff and members running the St. Patrick's Day 8K held near Freedom Plaza! Registration is currently open (click here to register) and the race itself is being held on Sunday, March 15th, 2009.
We don't want to call them excuses, but we know that you may have a few "reasons" why you shouldn't join us, so we've taken the liberty of addressing a few of them for you!
REASON #1: I've never run a 8-K race before?
That's OK! It will be the first race for some of the TCSC staff members, too! Some will be following Hal Higdon's 8K training program. For the novice program, you should start out being able to run 2 miles (click here to view the program). The program is 8 weeks long so if you can get your running distance up to 2 miles by January 18th you will be all set! Not quite up to 2 miles yet? Start building your running base now; we'll be glad to help you get started!
REASON #2: I don't have a lot of time to train?
We know....we don't either, but you only need to be able to run 3 times/week. Toss in another 2 days of cross-training and you'll be crossing that finish line with us on March 15th, 2009!
REASON #3: I don't run fast and I don't want to end up in last place.
That's OK! Lots of us don't run fast so we are not all running for time. As far as being in last place, well, we just want to finish! It's about a sense of accomplishment, a challenge and the comraderie of pursuing health and wellness with others.
Do you have any other concerns about joining us?
We hope not because we would love for you to join us, but if you have additional questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at events@thomascirclesportsclub.com. We'll be sure to come up with some answer that will encourage and motivate you!
HAPPY RUNNING!!
